PlantANT has established this privacy policy to explain how your information is collected, used, shared, and protected when you use the PlantANT website, our mobile applications, and related services (together, the "Service"). We may update this policy from time to time, and will post notice of materially significant changes on the PlantANT site. Your continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
1. Information you provide to us
- Account information. When you register we collect information such as your name, username, email address, telephone number, company name, mailing address, city, state, ZIP code, country, and the type of account or industry you select. Passwords are stored in hashed form.
- Supplier and nursery profile information. Supplier accounts may also provide company email addresses, additional phone and fax numbers, website addresses, business descriptions, hours of operation, certifications, nursery type, service areas, and the payment methods your business accepts.
- Listings and uploaded content. Inventory and availability listings, plant descriptions, pricing, project and quote request information, logos, and photographs you upload.
- Billing information. Information needed to bill your subscription, including your billing contact details and invoice history.
- Communications. Information you provide when you contact us, submit the contact form, request support, or send feedback.
2. Information collected automatically
- Log data. Our web logs record standard entries for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, referring page, browser and device information, and timestamp. Logs help us diagnose server problems, administer the site, detect abuse, and provide the Service.
- Account activity. We record sign-in activity, including IP address and whether you signed in from a desktop browser, mobile browser, or our mobile app. We record failed sign-in attempts by IP address to protect accounts against automated attacks.
- Search and usage activity. We record searches performed on the Service, listings viewed, and advertising impressions and clicks, together with the associated session and IP address. This information supports search relevance, reporting to advertisers, and billing for usage-based advertising.
- Approximate location. Addresses and ZIP codes you supply are converted to geographic coordinates so that listings can be shown on maps and matched to search radius. See Section 4.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
PlantANT uses cookies and similar technologies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent parts of the Service from working correctly.
- Strictly necessary cookies. Session cookies that keep you signed in and maintain your session, and cookies used by our billing system when you access invoices and payment pages.
- Functional cookies. A "remember me" cookie that keeps you signed in on a device you choose to trust, an automatic sign-out cookie, and a cookie that stores your language preference.
- Analytics and measurement. We use Google Tag Manager and associated analytics tools to understand how visitors find and use the Service, including which searches and features are used. These tools may set their own cookies and may collect information such as IP address, pages viewed, and search events.
- Embedded third-party content. Some pages include content served by third parties, such as maps, video players, and social media widgets. Those third parties may set their own cookies when their content loads.
Our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
4. Location information
- We convert the addresses and ZIP codes in your account and listings into geographic coordinates so listings can be mapped and included in distance-based searches.
- Our mobile app and certain map features may ask your device for your current location so we can show nearby suppliers and listings. You may decline this request or turn it off in your device settings; distance searching by ZIP code will still work.
- We do not collect precise device location in the background or when you are not using the Service.
5. How we use information
- To create and administer your account, authenticate you, and provide the Service.
- To display your listings and supplier profile to other users and to match them to searches.
- To process subscriptions, calculate usage-based and per-user charges, issue invoices, and collect payment.
- To send transactional and service messages, such as registration confirmations, invoices, subscription notices, and responses to your inquiries.
- To send information about PlantANT products, features, and services, subject to Section 8.
- To provide reporting to advertisers about the performance of their listings and ads.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Use, and comply with legal obligations.
- To analyze and improve the Service, including search quality and site performance.
6. Payments
- Subscription billing and payment processing are handled by third-party billing and payment providers on our behalf.
- Credit card numbers and similar payment credentials are entered into and stored by those providers. PlantANT does not store full payment card numbers on its own systems.
- We retain billing records such as invoices, amounts, dates, and payment status.
7. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below.
- Publicly on the Service. Information in your supplier or company profile and in your listings, including company name, business contact details, description, and location, is displayed publicly to users of the Service and may appear in search results.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services for us, such as hosting, billing and payment processing, email delivery, mapping and geocoding, spam and bot prevention, video hosting, analytics, and email marketing platforms. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us.
- Between linked accounts. If you are part of a corporate, nursery, or multi-user account, your account administrator can view and manage your access and activity associated with that account.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; to enforce our Terms of Use; to respond to claims that content violates the rights of third parties; or to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of PlantANT, its users, or the general public.
- Business transfers. If PlantANT is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
8. Email and marketing communications
- When you register you agree to receive email regarding PlantANT's services. We also send transactional messages such as confirmations, invoices, and subscription notices, which are part of the Service and are not marketing.
- You may opt out of marketing and promotional email at any time by using the unsubscribe link in those messages or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing email does not stop transactional and account-related messages.
- We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
9. Archiving and display of PlantANT listings by search engines and other sites
- Search engines and other sites not affiliated with PlantANT, including archive.org, google.com, and other search and archive services, may index, archive, or otherwise make available PlantANT listings. We do not control how those services retain or display that information.
10. Data retention and storage
- We retain account and listing information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.
- Listings, messages, and other posted content are stored in our database and may be retained after deletion in backups, logs, or archives.
- Web logs, access records, and transaction and billing records are retained as long as needed for security, accounting, tax, and legal purposes.
- Registered users can access and update most account information from the account pages.
11. Security
- Account information is password-protected. Keep your password safe and do not share your credentials.
- We use administrative and technical measures intended to protect information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public.
- No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your choices and rights
- You may review and update your account information from the account pages, or contact us for help.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. We may need to retain certain information to comply with legal, accounting, and security obligations, and deletion of your account does not remove information already displayed publicly, archived by third parties, or required for billing records.
- You may opt out of marketing email as described in Section 8, and control cookies through your browser as described in Section 3.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable state or national privacy laws, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 16.
13. Children's privacy
- PlantANT is a business-to-business service intended for use by professionals in the horticulture, landscape, and allied trades. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. International users
- PlantANT is operated from the United States and our servers are located in the United States. By visiting our web site and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that we may use the data collected in the course of our relationship for the purposes identified in this policy or in our other communications with you, including the transmission of information outside your resident jurisdiction, and that such data may be stored on servers located in the United States. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data.
15. Changes to this policy
- We may revise this policy at any time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated, and we will post notice of materially significant changes on the PlantANT site.
16. Contact us
