How it works
There is nothing to install and no integration to run. If you already keep an availability list for your own sales staff, most of the work is behind you — that list is what buyers search.
- List the plants you grow Name, size, container or B&B, how many you have, and a price if you want buyers to see one. Enter them under Manage Plants, or ask us to turn on spreadsheet imports and upload the availability list you already keep.
- Buyers search by plant, size and distance from the job A contractor sourcing 40 six-foot hollies searches for exactly that and gets the nurseries that have them, ordered by how far the material would have to travel.
- They see your listing and contact you Your phone number, your email, your salesperson. We are not in the middle of that conversation, and we never see what you quote.
- You pay when a buyer clicks through to your inventory A dollar when a wholesale buyer opens your material for a plant they searched for. Nothing when they search and move on.
Most nurseries are listed and turning up in searches the same week they sign up. What continues after that is keeping your quantities honest, which is the part that decides whether buyers come back.
You pay for results, not for months.
One plan. The subscription keeps your listings live; everything else is billed on what buyers actually do.
| What you are paying for | Price |
|---|---|
| Base subscription Keeps your nursery and its listings live on PlantANT. | $10 per month |
| Additional users A separate login for each member of your sales staff. | $5 per month each |
| Buyer click-through A wholesale buyer opens your inventory for a plant they searched for. | $1.00 per click |
| Listing impression Your listing appears in a buyer’s results. Billed only when that buyer clicks into a plant. | $0.01 each |
A buyer who searches and leaves costs you nothing.

Questions nursery owners ask
Select a question to read the answer.
Do I have to keep my availability updated?
Yes, and this is the real work of it. A listing that says you have three-gallon viburnum is useful only for as long as that is true, and buyers stop trusting a nursery whose numbers never hold up.
You can edit listings by hand under Manage Plants, or have spreadsheet imports enabled on your account and upload a CSV. If you already produce an availability list for your own sales staff, that is the same rhythm this needs.
Who sees my pricing?
Signed-in wholesale buyers with an active subscription. Prices are not shown to anonymous visitors — a search result shows “Login Req’d” where the price would be — so your price list is not sitting in the open for anyone who wanders onto the site.
On any individual listing you can enter a price of 0 and it displays as “Call” instead of a number. If you also show availability on your own website through the Website Widget or a PlantSITES site, prices there are a separate setting you control, and PlantSITES can keep them behind a password.
What we do not offer is a way to hide your price from one particular buyer while showing it to the rest.
Do you sell plants, or compete with me?
No. PlantANT is a search engine, not a broker and not a nursery. We do not hold inventory, quote jobs, take orders, or take a percentage of anything you sell.
When a buyer finds your material they get your contact information, and the conversation is between the two of you. We never see the price you settle on.
What if I already have a website?
Then this sits alongside it. Your own site is where a buyer goes once they already know your name; PlantANT is where they look when they do not.
The Website Widget can also display your PlantANT listings on the site you already have, so you are maintaining one inventory instead of two. If you have no site, or want to replace one you are not happy with, we build them as well — see PlantSITES.
Can my sales staff have their own logins?
Yes. Additional users are $5 per month each, and you set what each one can reach — plant search, RFQs, billing, managing listings — so the yard manager updating availability does not also get into your billing.
Staff who only manage listings and do not need plant search are not billable at all. Full detail is in the user management guide.
What if I am not in a busy area?
Some of the nurseries this has worked best for are the ones nobody could find. Good material, fair prices, no visibility. Once they were listed, buyers turned up who were willing to truck a good deal further than usual to get that material, and growers who priced sharply to pull buyers in have sold out of what they had. A buyer will drive past a closer nursery for the right plant at the right price.
None of that means PlantANT creates demand where there is none. A yard two states from the nearest concentration of buyers will be contacted less often than one on the edge of a metro. You can name the states you want reach in rather than relying on who happens to be nearby, and if you want to know what search activity around you looks like before you subscribe, ask us and we will tell you what we see.
A quiet area is also the case this pricing handles best. Traffic you do not get is traffic you are not billed for: five buyers opening your inventory in a month runs about $15, the subscription plus five clicks. Wholesale orders run into the thousands, so one sale out of those five covers the year and then some. That is the arithmetic worth doing before deciding your area is too thin to bother with.
Reach the buyers you actually sell to.
Almost every nursery sells into a defined area. Under Geographic Markets on your company profile you name the states you want to reach, and buyers searching from those states see your listings even when your yard sits outside the distance they searched. If you only truck to the Northeast, that is the map you set.
- You choose the states
- Set them once, change them whenever your trucking or your season changes.
- You pay on a buyer’s move, not on a month
- A wholesale buyer opening your inventory for a plant they searched for costs $1.00. A buyer who looks and leaves costs nothing.
- Banner ads can be aimed the same way
- If you run display ads on PlantANT, those can be targeted to particular states and cities as well.
One thing to be straight about: naming states adds reach into them. It does not hide you from buyers close to home, who find you on distance alone.
Put your inventory where buyers are looking.
Listing takes one subscription and no commitment past the month you are in.
Every search that runs while your material is not listed is a buyer finding those plants somewhere else — often from a nursery that is no closer and no cheaper, just easier to find.
Getting started is an availability list, not a project. Send us the spreadsheet you already keep and we will turn on the import so nobody has to type it in twice.
Rather talk to someone first?
A lot of growers would rather ask their questions out loud, and that is a perfectly good way to start.
